Right click on the network icon in the tray, Open Network and sharing center, change adapter settings, right click on your adapter, make sure it is enabled - status should have IP address under details.

According to my notes, the S7 has a combo headphone/microphone jack and is probably wired like this. So unless you have a 4 ring plug it will probably not give you a mike input.
