I am afraid you are fighting a lost battle.
Many of us had the same problem when they decided to discontinue the firt Ezel hinge model the 15" version (R7 -57x)
I and all its users strongly believed that design is genius and that we would like to see it maintained in future product lines.
But ultimately if not enough people embrace the change (regardless if this is the fault of poor marketing, stupid media, or people resistance to change), it will not make business sense.
I agree that if they would put the right effort behind it with the right marketing, it could actually become extremely popular, but so far they have not shown interest in doing so.
I even went as far as doing 3D CAD designs for a revamped version of the 15" R7, with improvements to the things that had confused the media initially. I had that posted for a while in the Suggestion forum, and even had very positive feedback from Acer employees. But nothing happenned and when they decided to purge that forum section, it went away.

I personally bough two used one to last me for a while (one for my daughter and one for me), with SSDs and windows 10 they will last me a while.
