The Swift 3 received a firmware update through Windows Update. My guess is you need a firmware update though Windows Update to get it to work. But that's just a guess. Have you set a supervisor...

Could you explain this a bit further: "open the lid to somewhere between 30-45 degrees". The screen turns off when the lid is closed but an external monitor should stay on
