I think you should call Acer support.
I was able to get Ubuntu installed after reading and following eelcoherder's post. If it doesn't work for you, then I'm completely out of ideas. It's possible that Acer may need to update BIOS for your model. Not sure.
I got the black screen too until I read eelcoherder's post.
