I have an Aspire R7-572 with Windows 10. My active stylus seemed to be wearing out so I got a surface pen and from the moment I received it it worked without pairing--the writing functions were fine but I had no button functions and didn't miss them. Then the pen stopped working as a stylus or to write. I replaced the battery, paired the pen with my Aspire R7-572, and the button functions started to work (screenshot, Onenote, Cortana), but the writing and erasing functions still don't work. I followed the troubleshooting guide and "reseated" the one tip I have. This didn't help. I tried to download the Surface tablet drivers but Microsoft won't allow it.
What I am hoping someone might know is whether buying a set of new tips is likely to restore the writing functionality, or whether the surface pen is simply broken and needs to be replaced.
