To those who are experiencing Acer Aspire laptop keyboard issues -
I purchased my Aspire R13 in May 2016 thinking the issues I'd read about had been resolved, but as others stated, the keyboard was missing some keys and doubling others so typing was a pain. I tried adjusting the repeat and delay rates in the control panel and this helped a bit, but I found myself avoiding the laptop if I needed to do a lot of typing.
I finally decided to send it in for repair and the laptop keyboard now functions perfectly.
I was worried about them wiping the hard drive (the chat rep actually said they would do this) or taking forever to fix but neither was the case. They simply replaced the keyboard and sent it right back.
I shipped it out on Sept. 6th via UPS ground and it cost about $14. They received it on Sept 8th and replaced the keyboard and shipped it back to me via FedEx ground on the 9th. I received it on the 13th. So I was without my laptop for 1 week total.
I came to this forum to look for solutions prior to sending it in for repair so just wanted to share my experience in case anyone else is on the fence like I was. I think it's totally worth it to send it for repair.
