Hi everyone,
I've just signed up here to say thank you to all of you and in particular to GarMouT who wrote the only solution I found on the web after I spent 3 days on this problem.
First of all, my laptop is an Acer TravelMate X349 and, as another user here already said, all 32bit Linux distributions work on it. A lot of problems come with the 64bit distributions, problems that can be fixed following the GarMouT's guide, getting rid of the new kernel in order to get an older one.
Just some different stuff in my case: I tried with Linux Mint 18.2 Sonya and the Linux kernel 4.8. I've got the same problems anyway.
I have just skipped the step 13 because in my case the WiFi worked, but the suspend functionalities, the touchpad and everything regarding the battery stuff didn't.
Nevertheless, I've also not been able to boot the laptop with the Legacy Mode at the end of the guide. "No bootable device found". I needed to choose the grubx64.efi file as UEFI trusted and boot the laptop with that mode, and the secure boot disabled. But finally it works perfectly, almost.
