Sadly, no dice. I think in my case my trackpad is the Syaptics pad, NOT Elan, which got updated. The Synaptics driver is still from May... The hardware ID for the trackpad is SYN, which I assume is Synaptics. Not sure why Acer is listing both Elan and Synaptics as drivers for my particular laptop... unless they use multiple parts for it?
Anyway, I cannot get a newer driver installed - still says it's from 6/21/2006 in Device Manager.
Be nice if someone from Acer could at least say they're AWARE OF IT.
