If it is shut down now, try pressing the reset (pin hole next to one of the middle screws on the back) for about 5 seconds then try to reboot.

thanks I tried that, but it although it moved on from the ACER screen, it went to a completely blank screen, with nothing at all on it.

Could you see if the blank screen had the backlight on dimly ? On one machine I had a blank screen for over an hour then it came to life. I'd just leave it on overnight and see if anything changes. If not then a full reinstall may be necessary.

If a system of mine did that, I'd probably remove the drive and mount as a slave on a desktop for backup and checkout. Have detected/cleaned difficult malware that way before.
BTW it looks like the S1002 dock has a SEAGATE/ST500LT012-1DG142 which is a standard SATA drive.
ps are you sure your power supply is acting properly ?

Has it always done this or did it start recently ?
The drive appears to be a standard Seagate SATA 500GB (ST500LT012-1DG142). If I had one of those I'd remove the drive and either mount in a desktop or an external USB drive enclosure (under $20 on Amazon) and see if it acts the same. If it does you have a drive problem. If not the S1002 has an issue.
When I converted my R3 from the stock rotary drive to a SSD, I put the 500GB drive in a Sabrent enclosure and use it for backup.
ps I believe you have a USB connector on the keyboard. I have a USB test device (like this) to verify stable USB voltage and current draw.

Need to go to http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/driversand enter Aspire S3-392 for the model.
You may need to select Windows 8.1& ALL from the dropdowns to find the audio driver. Bluetooth drivers exist for both 8.1 and 10.

hi again,
sorry didn't have any problems untill yesterday, I don't know what exactly changed 
so far so bad,what I tried now to get it fixed was:
# limiting to single band (2.4GHz) -> crashes immediately
# turn of IPv6 -> still crashing unreguarly
but what I found out for sure is, that the router causes the trouble not the laptop.
It seems that there are known issues in the TP Link firmware, and in the Drivers of the Qualcom Wifi Card,
if you combine it, you are seriously F+++d.
For the moment I reactivated the Wifi built in the ISPs router, which is not having any problems at the moment.
Seriously having two networks is a pain (printer, network drives etc.) but at the moment it is the most simple solutions.
I will try to install OpenWRT on the TP Link and tell you how it worked out.

You should not need an activation product key to activate the trial.
Get Office icon, try Office in the pop-up window and follow the steps.

Look in Control Panel>Sound>Playback and make sure the proper device is selected. If a sound is playing should see in the bar graph on right.Then click on the device>Properties>General and make sure the driver is working properly. Finally click on the speaker in the tray and make sure it is at 100% and not muted.

S5-371 dual display issue with type-c adapter
I have fully upgraded windows 10 and all the latest drivers from Acer support pages installed to my Aspire S5-371.
When I'm trying to connect a display into type-c USB-port using a type-c/HDMI adapter, windows shows an error message "Display connection is limited" and by clicking it, it opens following web site:

I tried 2 different type-c/HDMI adapters with same results. Does my new laptop support dual display at all?

The end of the M$ note says "The hardware and software on the system, the device or adapter, or cable does not support the DisplayPort /DockPort or MHL alternate modes."
Now since a regular USB port works (2.0 even) for DisplayPort that leaves MHL. Maybe you need one of these.

I'm new to this thing. Yesterday I had a keyboard icon in the task bar. All I had to do was tap on it and the keyboard came up. Today it's gone and I have to go through the settings to get the keyboard. Is there a way of permanently getting the keyboard icon in tablet mode to have OSK?

Thanks for your reply. When I try to click on the office icon or any of its product like word, excel and so on it automatically takes me to the activation screen to enter activation key or product key. If I dismiss the activation step, I eventually get into the product itself but I can load or create documents. If you can help me to get around the activation, that will be tremendous.
